VARIOUS CLIPS OF PURE PWNAGE – 30 SECONDS
MUSIC – TEH N00B SONG
Pwnage: A slang term derived from the verb “own,” meaning to appropriate or to conquer. The term implies domination or humiliation of an opponent.
KYLE
Jeremy, can you try to be a little more excited now that we’re on TV to make it more interesting?
JEREMY
Oh, oh now that we’re on TV I gotta do a bunch of stuff whenever you tell me to? Good luck - have fun with that Kyle. *Laughs*
V/O
This is the life of Jeremy, a guy who does nothing but play video games all day. Sound boring? Turns out it’s more interesting than it sounds…look at that, he is actually spanking his Nintendo DS after winning a game. Pure Pwnage is TV show that follows the development of this fictional character in a single-camera mockumentary format. His brother Kyle, an aspiring filmmaker, is the one behind the camera, and is often made fun of.

TV SHOW CLIP OF JEREMY AND KYLE

JEREMY
He’s a big n00b…and yeah that’s it. Oh, Kyle is like, totally gay by the way if you didn’t know that yet.
KYLE
I’m not gay…fine, forget the intro.

V/O
In 2003, producers Geoff and Jarett posted their first episode on the web landing over 3 million hits, quickly gaining worldwide popularity ever since.

Jeremy
Wow millions of people Kyle?

CLIP: JARETT CALE – PLAYS JEREMY and CO-CREATOR OF PURE PWNAGE
(05:45) to (06:02) = 17 seconds
It kind of happened by accident, we were going to shoot something else entirely. We wanted to independently shoot a pilot that we could shop around to networks. We were shooting test footage and that footage was me improvising that character, I had a bandana on because I was actually wearing one that because I didn’t shower, because I was playing games all day.

MUSIC – FPS DOUG’S THEME – 15 seconds
TV SHOW CLIP of FPS Doug running around pretending to be playing a shooting game
Boom headshot!
V/O
This is Jeremy’s best friend, best known as FPS Doug. The FPS stands for “first person shooter,” with Doug clearly showing an obsession with video games as well. He coined the phrase “boom headshot” which is now commonly used in online gaming.

CLIP: JOEL GARDINER – PLAYS FPS DOUG
(15:35) to (15:47) = 12 seconds
They always want me to say it for them and whatnot…a couple of years ago, a guy was running down the street through traffic yelling at me. It's always amusing.

CLIP: JOEL GARDINER
(14:32) to (14:51) = 19 seconds
I've been buddies with Geoff and Jarett for years, we've been doing film together for probably fifteen years, we used to do a lot of skit comedy stuff back in Calgary. When they moved up to Toronto and the show started taking off they asked me to play a character, which I of course jumped at the chance.

TV SHOW CLIP: FPS DOUG PRETENDS TO THROW A BOMB – 10 seconds
Frag out!

V/O
The cast and crew recently struck a deal with Showcase and rebooted their show for a potentially wider audience. The transition to TV made the production process very different from the web series.

TV SHOW CLIP: FPS DOUG
Your mom’s totally lying! There’s no way she loves you if she canceled your Internet!

V/O
With the new TV series came new talent. Played by rising star Melanie Scrofano who has appeared in numerous films including Saw VI, her character October is an employee at the Internet café that Jeremy and Doug often visit. Scrofano definitely feels some pressure coming into the show.

CLIP: MELANIE SCROFANO – PLAYS OCTOBER
I try to come in it as a fresh character with fresh ideas, and try not to copy anything that's been done before

TV SHOW CLIP: FPS DOUG TOWS JEREMY ON WAGON – 15 seconds (near end of episode 1)

Thanks to a little thing known as the Internet, this show has brought two university students to worldwide fame. For Take 21, I’m Natalie Bull.
